Shinobi Taiso® is a system created by the leader of Taiyou e no Michi, Igor Dovezenski, with the goal of bettering his own stamina needed for the daily koryu training. It is made out of various exercises for stretching, as well as exercises for strengthening and building muscle endurance. The system itself is an aggregate of the traditional techniques for increasing the mobility and strengthening the body used in the classical martial schools. In different ryu-ha, the techniques are known for the names: Junan Taiso, Junan Undo, Ryu Tai Undo, Ki Undo, Junbi Taiso and Aiki Taiso.
The experience of Dovezenski gathered during the 25 years of training in koryu bujutsu, along with research of the latest science findings from the field of condition training, including the research of the human anatomy and bio mechanics (the science of mechanical phenomena and processes in living organisms), led to the creation of Shinobi Taiso*.
What was the need for creating this system?
During the many years leading the dojo, instructor Dovezenski noticed that some warm-up exercises didn’t fit and didn’t contribute to the increase of stamina in some type of trainees. To that effect, he started researching and collaborating with people that are specialized in the field, starting from stamina trainers, to physiotherapists. Thus, he realizes that every body shape is unique and it needed a different approach to conditioning.
In 2011 (November), because of a fall from a cliff during free climbing, shidoshi Dovezenski underwent a spine and pelvis injury, and the doctors gave concerning a prognosis for his future and the possibility of continuing his training. Determined never to give up from the martial arts, Dovezenski did not follow their advice for a full stop to physical activities and started researching the workings and functioning of the human organism in greater detail. With the help of Shinobi Taiso, he managed to overcome the pain that followed him through his training and in a short time to regain his mobility and to successfully carry on with his everyday training’s .
As part of Shinobi Taiso, from the beginning of 2012, a section was opened that’s dedicated only to those who belong to the gentler sex. The group is called Kunoichi Taiso and is led by sempai Nela Dovezenska. At first developed for himself and for his students, Igor Dovezenski decided to offer this system to anyone that is interested to increase their physical condition and to better their health through training.
* Shinobi ( 忍 ) – a person specialized for various unconventional ways of combat, later known as the Ninja.
* Taiso ( 体操 ) – strengthening the body.

“I started with Junan Taiso about a year ago. I am quite a dynamic person by nature, but i was never interested in any joga exercises.
After some persuasion from my colleagues, i decided to come to a few training and try to train a little bit with them. Contrary to my expectation, i started to feel the effects right away. “The practicing of Junan Taiso during the workweek and in the middle of the working day, promotes the increase of work place energy. After the class I always feel relaxed, all though before I enter the dojo I often feel tired or am filled with worries. Torn between my responsibilities, I often say to myself that it would be better instead of coming to train I should take care of one of my many obligations, but after the class ends I am sure that i have done the smart thing.
Of course, for the efficiency and for the betterment of our health all the credit goes to our instructor Igor, who is always giving us exercises with which we are constantly improving our bodies elasticity and endurance. Through them our weak points are also discovered which we remove through exercise.
